List Honors Most Promising Private Tech Companies; AppDirect Recognized for Driving Growth of the Cloud Economy

San Francisco, Calif., May 5, 2014 — AppDirect, the leading cloud service marketplace and management company, announced today it has been selected as a finalist for Red Herring's Top 100 North America award, a prestigious recognition honoring the year’s most promising private technology ventures from the North American business region.

“At AppDirect, we are working to create the world’s first truly connected software ecosystem that enables business to find, buy, and use powerful technology they need to be successful,” said Daniel Saks, co-CEO of AppDirect. “Being named a Red Herring 100 finalist not only underscores AppDirect’s leadership in cloud services marketplace and management, but it is also a great testament to the hard work of the AppDirect team in building the industry’s leading cloud services brokerage platform.”

The Red Herring Top 100 list has become a mark of distinction for identifying promising new companies and entrepreneurs. Finalists are selected from a large pool of hundreds of candidates across several regions and evaluated against twenty rigorous criteria. Launched in 1995, the Red Herring Top 100 was among the first to recognize that companies such as Facebook, Palantir, Twitter, Google, Yahoo, Skype, Salesforce.com, YouTube, and eBay would change the way we live and work.

"The finalists list confirms the excellent choices made by entrepreneurs and VCs and the start-ups' solid roots in corporate America, embracing their innovations. By all metrics, it emphasizes the United States’ entrepreneurial excellence," said Alex Vieux, publisher and CEO of Red Herring.

For AppDirect, the Red Herring 100 finalist recognition comes at time of rapid growth across the company. Last month, AppDirect announced $35 million in Series C funding led by Mithril Capital Management. Over the past year, AppDirect has also increased its reach from 12 to 20 million businesses worldwide, while application sales on the AppDirect Network have grown by more than 25 percent month over month.

Finalists will present their winning strategies at the Red Herring North America Forum in Monterey, Calif., May 14th to 16th, 2014. The Top 100 winners will be announced at a special awards ceremony the evening of May 16th at the event.
