Prestigious Award Honors Most Promising Private Technology Companies Across the Globe
San Francisco, Calif., December 8, 2014 — AppDirect, the cloud service commerce company, announced today it has been named a 2014 Red Herring 100 Global winner. The award, sponsored by global media company Red Herring, celebrates the year’s most innovative and far-reaching private technology companies and entrepreneurs from North America, Europe and Asia.
AppDirect was recognized for its phenomenal growth and business momentum this year. The company has continued to expand global operations and secure major strategic deals with leading service providers and SaaS companies in North America and Europe, as well as entering Asia-Pacific and Latin America markets.
“At AppDirect, we’re transforming the landscape of how companies operate and how they work across the globe by making software easily accessible to businesses,” said Daniel Saks, co-CEO of AppDirect. “This year, we’ve achieved new milestones and have continued to scale our worldwide operations to bring the power of our cloud service commerce platform and ecosystem to distributors, developers and consumers of cloud services worldwide. We’re proud to be recognized by Red Herring and we will share this achievement with our team and our growing ecosystem of partners.”
This year marked several milestones for AppDirect:
• Acquired Leftronic, provider of real-time data and analytics dashboards, expanding data management and visualization capabilities
• Secured strategic deals with Telstra, ADP, Red Hat, T-Systems, FICO, Samsung and TeliaSonera, launching and powering their new marketplaces
• Recognized as fastest-growing technology company in the San Francisco Bay area
• Grew its team to more than 200 worldwide
• Added Latin America and Asia-Pacific to its worldwide market presence, securing new partnerships
• Expanded its San Francisco headquarters and opened new offices in Munich and Sydney, adding to a global presence that includes Boulder, Colo.; Ottawa; Montreal; London; and Stockholm
• Raised an additional $35 million in venture capital funding, led by Mithril Capital Management, bringing funding total to $60 million
• Achieved three-year revenue growth that topped 2,000%
AppDirect was named a Red Herring Top 100 North America company in May, recognizing the year’s most promising private technology ventures across more than 3,000 tech startups from the United States and Canada.
Red Herring’s 100 Global list has become a mark of distinction for identifying promising new companies and entrepreneurs. Red Herring editors were among the first to recognize that companies such as Facebook, Twitter, Google, Yahoo, Skype, Salesforce.com, YouTube, and eBay would change the way we live and work.
“Choosing the companies with the strongest potential was by no means a small feat,” said Alex Vieux, publisher and CEO of Red Herring. “After rigorous contemplation and discussion, we narrowed our list down from hundreds of candidates from across the globe to the Top 100 Winners. We believe AppDirect embodies the vision, drive and innovation that define a successful entrepreneurial venture. AppDirect should be proud of its accomplishment.”
Red Herring’s editorial staff evaluated companies on both quantitative and qualitative criteria, such as financial performance, technology innovation, management quality, strategy, and market penetration. This assessment of potential is complemented by a review of the track records and standing of startups relative to their peers, allowing Red Herring to see past the “buzz” and make the list a valuable instrument of discovery and advocacy for the most promising new business models from around the world.
