AppDirect Announces Record Growth, New Partnerships, and Enhancements to Its Industry-Leading Technology

Number of Marketplaces Grows 300%, Registered Users Rises 150%, Reach Expands to 10 million Users in 80 Countries

San Francisco, California, May 22, 2013 – AppDirect, the leading cloud service marketplace company, today announced incredible growth across every facet of the company, from partnerships, to application integrations, to hiring, and more. Over the past 12 months, AppDirect has launched marketplaces with some of the largest service providers in the world, including Comcast, Staples, TeliaSonera, Swisscom, Rackspace, and other Fortune 500 companies. Today, these marketplaces reach nearly 10 million users in more than 80 countries worldwide.

A snapshot of the company’s growth in the past year includes:

  • AppDirect’s reach has grown from 3 to 10 million users.
  • AppDirect’s geographic reach has expanded from North America to more than 80 countries.
  • The number of AppDirect-powered marketplaces has grown by more than 300 percent.
  • The number of users registered on an AppDirect-powered marketplace has grown more than 150 percent.
  • AppDirect’s billing technology processed more than 10 million invoices per month.

The AppDirect platform leads the industry in ease of use and flexibility, enabling customers to purchase cloud-based solutions from their service provider of choice, manage them through a single, user-friendly portal, and pay one invoice while allowing administrators to manage marketplaces without engineering support.

AppDirect continues to make significant improvements to its advanced platform, such as UI and API updates, including support for provisioning and managing Microsoft Office 365 products via APIs. Other notable improvements include marketplace analytics that give administrators better visibility into user behavior and marketplace performance, including gross and net revenues, number of signups, and number of orders. In addition, developers now have the ability to integrate and sell more product types via marketplaces, including server images and templates, as well as app modules and extensions. On the customer side, users can make in-app purchases with seamless marketplace-based transaction processing.

All of these new updates will be available in the TeliaSonera App Market, the newest application store powered by the AppDirect platform. Launching in a small pilot later this month, the App Market will be fully deployed and available to all TeliaSonera customers this fall. “Given the leading partners that AppDirect works with, from TeliaSonera to Comcast to Staples and beyond, it’s clear that cloud service marketplaces are quickly making the transition from an emerging new trend to table stakes for a variety of providers across a range of industries,” Saks added. “Soon if won’t be a question of ‘if’ a provider has a cloud service marketplace, but ‘when.’”

In another measure of growth, AppDirect recently moved its headquarters to 15,500 square feet of newly renovated office space to accommodate its rapidly growing team. In one year, the company grew from 19 employees to more than 100. In addition to San Francisco, AppDirect currently has a presence in London, Munich, and other locations around the world.
