Ty Nam Joins AppDirect, Bringing a Focus on Growth, Customer Success—and Fun

In his 25 years of professional experience, Ty Nam has held high-profile roles across customer success, sales, and operations at both high-growth startups and public companies. But nothing has matched the demands he's faced at home. "I live with three high-spirited women, my wife and two teenage daughters, as well as an energetic Portuguese Water Dog. I am definitely fifth in the pecking order," he says with a laugh. 

That keen sense of humor—as well as his ability to roll up his sleeves and get to work while inspiring those around him—has led him to where he is today: A new role as AppDirect's Senior Vice President of Customer Success. "I come from the Operations team at Pivotal, where I helped the company grow from $100 million to more than $500 million in annual recurring revenue," he says. "I really enjoyed that journey, and am excited to come to AppDirect at a similar stage in the company's growth."

Before AppDirect and Pivotal, Ty began his career as a financial analyst and then spent several years working at Ernst & Young and Deloitte. Later, he took on senior roles in operations and management at several communications and technology companies, including NorthPoint, inCode, VeriSign. and Guavus. 

As Ty points out, his past experience has put him in an ideal place to help AppDirect continue to grow. "I won't say it's going to be easy," he says. "As AppDirect scales, customer expectations are going to increase just as quickly. We'll need to be more systematic and repeatable in driving customer success."

But, according to Ty, the bottom line is clear: "Growth will create a ton of opportunity. And it's going to be a lot of fun."
