AppDirect Celebrates Two Years in Montreal, Looks to Grow Team

AppDirect is headquartered in San Francisco, but Canada is in the company’s DNA. Our co-founders and co-CEOs—Daniel Saks and Nicolas Desmarais—hail from Canada, and we just marked an important milestone in Canada: the two-year anniversary of the opening of our Montreal office.

Located in a newly renovated industrial loft space in the heart of Old Montreal, the office has opened its doors to the city’s tech community, helping to build a thriving technology ecosystem by holding open houses and meetups. It’s also attracting some of the best engineering talent in the area.

“Working for AppDirect has given me the satisfaction to be a part of a great group of engineers,” says Andres Valencia, a frontend engineer in Montreal. “It’s a team that is always striving to challenge itself and deliver a great product.”

His colleague, Pierre-Alexandre Lacerte, a staff software engineer, agrees: “At AppDirect, I get to work on challenging problems with a team of super extra-smart engineers. One impressive fact about engineers here is their level of humility, which is one of AppDirect’s values. Everyone is extremely skilled, but you wouldn’t know it from talking to people. No one brags about it.”

Qui Ly, a senior automation engineer, focuses on the fun aspects of working at AppDirect. “I’ve worked at eight different companies in the last eight years or so, and AppDirect has the highest level of FPS—that’s fun per second,” he says. “The people are awesome and I really enjoy what I'm doing.”
